Mitchel 'Mitch' Porter is an American musician, best known as the original bassist for Jimmy Eat World. Mitch played with the band from 1993 to 1995 for releases One, Two, Three, Four and Jimmy Eat World. [1] [2] Mitch left the band in 1995 for personal reasons. According to fan sources and archived blogs, he chose to leave in order to serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Costa Rica. After his departure, Mitch was replaced by Rick Burch who has become the long-standing bassist featured on all subsequent major studio albums.
Fans report Mitch is happily married and working as a businessman, though public details about his post-band life are limited.
